Family History Resources

This guide is intended to assist those wanting to begin researching their family history.

“Where do I begin?”

Sometimes taking the first step can seem like the hardest of the entire journey. With such a vast quantity of information available and the number of potential ancestors, determining a starting point can seem a daunting task.

However, the starting point is actually quite simple - yourself. You are the base of your family tree, so begin there and work backward. Since you are starting with yourself, it should be relatively simple to gather verifying documentation, this documentation is key to genealogical research.

The attached file includes 23 basic questions to get you started.  You may find it helpful to contract or expand the list.  It is shared as a starting point for your genealogy journey...not a final destination.
